The Network Configurations allows you to configure all IP settings, such as IP addresses, etc. for all interfaces (LAN, WAN, etc.)
NOTE! Press "Apply" after your settings!
Operational mode - This unit can operate in different modes:
Router - (default) Router, NAT and firewall. This unit is placed inbetween the Internet and your computers.
Telephone Adapter - (only visible if port ET0 is used as WAN connection, on models with voice ports) ATA-box converting your analogue phone into a SIP VoIP phone. This unit is placed between an existing firewall (or directly to Internet) and an analogue phone.
NOTE: This unit's ET0 port becomes an UPLINK port and shall be connected to your existing local network. The unit's ET1-ET4 ports become a switched hub allowing connection of PC-s to your existing local network. The wireless (AIR) interface remains NAT-ed to a separate subnet.
SIParator - (requires purchase of licence) SIP- and RTP-proxy allowing SIP clients behind a non-SIP-aware firewall to connect to the Internet. This unit is placed in parallel with your existing firewall.
NOTE: This unit's WAN interface shall be connected to the Internet and require its own global IP address. The unit's ET1 port is a LAN port and shall be connected to your LAN.
In SIParator mode the following configuration has to be made:
- Set ET1 IP address to a free unused IP address on your LAN.
- Turn off DHCP server on this unit's ET1 port.
- All SIP clients on the LAN must be setup to use the IP address of this unit's ET1 port as their outbound SIP proxy.
LAN SIParator - (only visible if port ET0 is used as WAN connection, requires purchase of licence) SIP- and RTP-proxy allowing SIP clients behind a non-SIP-aware firewall to connect to the Internet. This unit is placed behind the existing firewall.
NOTE: The unit's ET0 port becomes an UPLINK port and shall be connected to your existing local network (the existing firewall's LAN port). The unit's ET1-ET4 ports become a switched hub allowing connection of PC-s to your existing local network. The wireless (AIR) interface remains NAT-ed to a separate subnet.
In LAN SIParator mode the following configuration has to be made:
- The outside IP address of the existing firewall (i.e. the public IP address from the ISP) has to be filled in.
- TCP and UDP port range 35000 - 35100 is recommended for the SIP media streams.
- The same port range must be opened in the existing firewall and redirected to this unit.
- The SIP UDP and TCP ports 5060 must also be opened in the existing firewall and redirected to this unit.
- All SIP clients on the LAN must be setup to use the IP address of this unit as their outbound SIP proxy.
Once operational modes Telephone Adapter, SIParator or LAN SIParator has been selected the only way to get back to Router mode is to perform a reset to factory defaults. To save your SIP configuration you can backup your settings on the Administrator page before the reset, and read them back on the SIP pages after it.

Operational mode
WAN (Internet) - Select the port to use as the WAN connection (broadband to Internet):
LINE - ADSL connection through the LINE connector
ET0 - Ethernet connection through the ET0 connector
Press "Change" after your selection!
NOTE! Press "Apply" after your settings!
Internet interface - These settings affect the unit's identity on the WAN (Internet):
used as - Select how the port will be used:
outside - Unprotected. Inside interfaces will be protected from this interface by the firewall.
blocked - Connector not used and is switched off.
IP Address - The unit's IP address on the WAN. The unit can be reached by this address from the Internet.
Subnet Mask - States which of the IP address's digits that identify the subnet you are connected to.
Access type - Select type of protocol and how the port will get its IP address:
DHCP - Get settings automatically from your Internet Supplier's DHCP server.
The fields "IP Address", "Subnet Mask", "DNS Server" and "Default Gateway" will be filled in automatically.
PPPoE - As above, but the PPPoE protocol is used (PPP server supplies the IP address).
PPPoA - As above, but the PPPoA protocol is used (PPP server supplies the IP address).
Manual - The fields "IP address", "Subnet mask", "DNS server" and "Default Gateway" should be manually entered according to specifications from your Internet Supplier.
Auto - Automatic search. Click "Search" to detect which of above connection types that you should use.
A failed search means that no server is answering (possibly, you should then use the "Manual" option) or that the Internet connection is broken.
NOTE! Press "Apply" after your settings!
DNS Server (Internet) - Enter the IP address of one or two DNS servers that shall be used for DNS name resolution (to easily locate Internet sites by merely writing their name).
IP Adress - IP address(es) of the DNS server(s), if your Internet Supplier has told you any.
Default Gateway - A Gateway is used to access the Internet. Enter its IP address, if your Internet Supplier has told you one.
NOTE! The IP address of the Gateway must be on the same subnet as your WAN interface!
At DHCP, PPPoE or PPPoA this data will normally be automatically collected. DNS address may be manually entered in all cases, if unchecking the Obtain automatically box.
SIP Routing Through Extern Firewall (visible only if operational mode LAN SIParator is selected) - IP address and ports of the firewall this unit is behind.
Media ports - TCP and UDP port range opened in the firewall this unit is behind, and forwarded to this unit.
Outside IP - Global IP address the firewall this unit is behind can be reached at (from the Internet). An attempt is made to autodetect this address, but if the autodetection has failed and the field is empty you must fill in the address yourself.
Dynamic - If the outside IP address is dynamic enabling this checkbox will make the field be autoupdated at regular intervals.
NOTE! Press "Apply" after your settings!
Local interface (ET1, ET2, ET3, ET4
, USB, AIR, AIR2, AIR3
) - The connector that your PC or LAN will be connected to. The settings in this box affect how the unit behaves on your LAN (Local Area Network).
Select how the contact will be used:
inside - Connected computers will be protected by the firewall on a separate subnet (normal, recommended setting for most users).
outside - Unprotected. Inside interfaces will be protected from this interface by the firewall. (Only for the advanced user!)
DMZ - DeMilitarized Zone - Special subnet for webservers: can access WAN, but no connection at all to LAN.
blocked - Connector not used and is switched off.
isolated - Can only access WAN, but no connection at all to other LAN interfaces. (Same as DMZ.)
off - Virtual access point is not used and is switched off. (AIR can not be switched off here - disable entire wireless on Wireless Settings page instead.)
--> ET1 - Bridged to ET1. Uses same subnet as ET1 port, see ET1 port settings for details.
--> ipwanx - Bridged to an extra WAN interface. Open the extra WAN interfaces page to see/edit this port's settings.
IP Adress - The unit's IP address on LAN. The unit can be reached by this address from your PC.
Subnet Mask - States which of the IP address's digits that identify the subnet of your LAN.
DHCP Server - Check, if you want the unit to act as a DHCP server on your LAN. (Recommended)
(A DHCP server supplies IP addresses to all PC's on a LAN)
From, To - The address range used by the DHCP server to select IP address to distribute.
NOTE! None of the interfaces are allowed to be on the same subnet as any other interface!
DHCP "From" and "To" must be on the same subnet as the IP address!
The settings for ET1 normally covers ET2 and ET3 too (ethernet switch).
NOTE! Press "Apply" after your settings!
